How to Support People with Incurable Illnesses?

August 15, 2014 – 12:50 am

PromoPro is thrilled and excited to announce that we have joined hands to support an amazing organization known as: Do It For The Love.

After carefully choosing an organization that we felt was significant, we realized how meaningful and powerful the strength of music is in people’s lives.

Our initiative to support Do It For The Love Foundation happened through a documentary by Hope for Steve.  Steve was diagnosed with ALS. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) often referred to as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease,” is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain as well as the spinal cord.

Just like Steve, Abby Brown suffers from a severe brain injury and Azaria Sage was diagnosed with Aicardi Syndrome.

As a result, The Do It For The Love Foundation granted them with a live music wish to celebrate their life and inspire joy, hope, and healing.

Do It For The Love has provided this endearing gift to countless people by sponsoring concerts that will light up and help people heal through the use of music.

In their first year, August 2013 – August 2014, they sent 175 wish recipients to an inspiring concert of their choice. Their mission is to continue being a granting Foundation that brings people in advanced stages of life-threatening illnesses, children with severe challenges, and wounded veterans to LIVE concerts.

Founded by musician Michael Franti and ER nurse Sara Agah, the Do It For The Love Foundation is passionate about spreading joy, hope, and lasting powerful memories through the healing power of music.

Therefore, we wanted to share this with our community and friends with the hope that we can all support this great cause and believe in the healing powers of music.

If you would like to be part of this, become a member. For every coupon you upload in our community site, we will donate a penny. Although it doesn’t sound like much, we believe our average visitors (approximately 856,000 people) will want to unite in this amazing cause.
We hope you do too and thank you for being such a loyal customer.

Please help the Do It For The Love Foundation in their cause to celebrate life through music.

How to be closer to your child?

August 13, 2014 – 1:24 am

Even though  “back-to-school” season comes to an end, it certainly does not mean that everything goes downhill. It is important now more than ever that our kids need our undivided attention and support when it comes to their homework, leisure time, and wellness.

As PromoPro becomes strong in the savings community, we wanted to dedicate this PromoPro blog to all the moms and dads who work hard everyday to support their child in every aspect. As devastating as it is to hear that the most cared for actor, Robin Williams, passed away, we must not ignore the fact that our children and friends might need more support than they appear to ask for.

Depression is a serious illness and, if not addressed properly, it can leave irreversible mishaps along with psychological dangers.

We wanted to focus on 7 practical life skills, and we hope that these will help many reevaluate what quality time actually means. In addition, our promorpo blog gives you some great additional resources with tips on how to cope with teenagers and friends. Read it here!

5 ideas for dealing with teenagers

How to Deal With Your Teenager (for Parents)

  1. Quality time is not technology time: What we mean by this is the importance of one-on-one time with a friend, especially your child, without using technology. Now that we depend on technology more than ever, it is important to know it can be distracting and alongside lacking emotional connection.  Put the phone down, close your laptop, or turn off the TV. Personal connections embrace security and assurance.
  2. Apply what you preach: As a parent or even a friend, it is easy to teach lessons and say, “don’t do this, don’t say that,” but when we carefully analyze our actions, it is important to lead by example. If you don’t want your children to back-talk, do you stop and think before talking back?
  3. Play hard and work hard: If you establish a schedule for you and your children, follow it! A healthy lifestyle pattern will be become a habit that is eventually accomplished on autopilot. The more we train our brain to do something, the easier it becomes to do it. Keeping in mind, however, that every task needs a reward. It is the easiest way for something to become a habit and stay that way positively.  Charles Duhigg writes a powerful book about the power of habits.
    1. Make positive habits:
    1. Listen more than you talk:
    1. Set boundaries, not rules:
  4. This book reminds us of how hard or difficult some things appear to be when we make a habit out of them.

  5. Friendship gets you further: Many people say that as parent you should represent authority, not alliance. On the contrary, friends and children are more open to listening and talking when they can identify with a friend more than an authoritative figure. Yes, It is important to have guidelines, but it is more important to have bonds in order for communication to be clear and understood. Is not what you say, but how you say it!
  6. Make Positive Habits: Just like number 3, when we create and embrace habits, it is easier to turn something positive into negative and vise versa if you try to make a routine out of it. The #1 struggle for most parents is doing homework. When kids get older, make a habit of completing homework because successful adults are disciplined children.
  7. Listen more then you talk: We often forget that our kids or friends have stressful lives, too. It is great to discuss our problems or vent them sometimes, but it is also extremely important to acknowledge the problems of others. Even if your life seems like the most stressful of all, in other people’s perception, you might have it easy. So always have some perspective.
  8. Set boundaries, not rules: Rules are important and every person should have a clear understanding on such, but when you are dealing with children or even friends, boundaries seems to be a little less harsh, yet they still target equal results. Remember, we usually tend to do what we are not supposed to do while somehow ignoring things we know are simply unmoral. Boundaries persuade the heart; rules persuade the brain.

How Can You Avoid Gaining Weight After Detox?

August 8, 2014 – 1:19 am

How can you avoid gaining weight after detox? Our Promopro blog tells you how!

The hardest part about detoxing is not the detox itself, believe it or not.  You can make your own Detox for 5 days. It is the aftermath of various effects when you finish. From personal experience, I can remember I couldn’t think of anything else in this world but to chew on some steak! I was excited and satisfied but hungry. I wanted food!

It’s not a secret that the worst action one can take after a detox regimen is to eat at full throttle. It’s unhealthy for your body; it causes a minor shock to your digestive system, and worst of all, you are on your way to a toxic lifestyle AGAIN if you fail to wait.

So what is the best way to stay “detoxified and weightless”, Promopro tells you how!

The Zone Diet

I can say the zone diet because that’s what I did, and I haven’t gained a pound since my detoxing days.

So what is the Zone diet?

The zone diet is the simplest way to eat healthy, well, and balanced. Its not really a diet per say. It’s just a normal human way we all should have learned to eat when we were young. You can make it as strict or as simple as possible. It all depends on you.

The best part is that it’s actually quite simple, and reading this blog explains how to conduct the Zone diet as part of your lifestyle to maintain optimum health levels:

As CrossFit Impulse explains,

“ The Zone diet is primarily concerned with controlling your hormones. Hormonal balance affects all-important components of your wellness:

  • Body composition
  • Energy utilization
  • Blood chemistry, and much more.

Food is a drug. This may seem shocking, but think about the definition of a drug. “

The Zone Diet isn’t about eating “low-carb” or “high-protein” or anything like that.

It’s a diet balanced in

• Protein (lean, natural meats are preferred)

• Carbs (mostly low glycemic-load fruits and vegetables)

• Fat (one of the most important macronutrients!

With the right balance of protein, carbohydrates and fats, you can control three major hormones generated by the human diet:

1. INSULIN           2.  GLUCAGON                3. EICOSANOIDS

1. Insulin – A storage hormone. Excess insulin makes you fat and keeps you fat. It also accelerates silent inflammation.

2. Glucagon – A mobilization hormone that tells the body to release stored carbohydrates at a steady rate, leading to stabilized blood sugar levels. This is key for optimal mental and physical performance.

3. Eicosanoids – These are the hormones that ultimately control silent inflammation. They are also master hormones that indirectly orchestrate a vast array of other hormonal systems in your body.

If you want more information, recipes and detail amounts, find it here. Also, checkout Vitacost for protein shakes if you work out or simply want to strengthen muscle and burn fat effectively. At Promopro.com we have great codes that will help you save on some items.

There is no secret behind maintaining your weight. The key is to stay active, even with a little work out like a jog. I couldn’t be a more perfect example when I say I have done very little since been injured. The secret is to actually CARE, to want it, to picture it, to dedicate some time in it and to commit. All your body is saying is “HELP ME, HELP YOU!. There is nothing more than upsetting than when people complain and whine making little effort and expect big results.

These people only want results but they are not willing to do the work. Are you one of those? If so, STOP reading and keep dreaming about losing weight.

If you seriously want to change your life, THEN STOP BEING LAZY, STOP MAKING EXCUSES AND JUST DO IT!!!!

Why Shopping Online Saves You More Than In-stores

August 5, 2014 – 10:28 pm

I have never been a fan of shopping online, mainly because I am afraid of ordering the wrong size; however, there is the occasional instance where products seem so much cheaper than they appear at the store. Am I correct or am I imagining things?

After realizing that I am nearly 30 years old, I have come to the cruel reality that I was a shopaholic. Ok…maybe I am a recovering shopaholic, (but I must be given credit for the fact that admitting it is the first step) at least Debbie Rose seems to agree. So with that said, I wanted to point out that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I understand it is not about spending like crazy just because things are 50 or 60 % OFF; it is about knowing how to spend wisely and when it is economically responsible to do so.

So after years and years of overspending, I think I can proudly say I am learning what it is like to spend when you CAN for an incredibly low price. I don’t think the issue with purchasing in the US is low prices; I think we are definitely the #1 to provide high quality goods at a very inexpensive price.

I think it is more about the originality of the products. By that, I mean that we all shop at the same places, e.g. Forever, Banana, H&M, and some of us who like a more expensive taste, Bloomingdales

So why is it better to shop online than in store?

  1. There is more opportunities for special promotions online than there are in-stores. Although a recent article reports retailers are disappointed on the decrease of traffic at the mall.
  2. You can shop at the convenience of your own home and even…Shhhh at work.
  3. You can save your cart for later, in case prices drop even more.
  4. The return policies are a little less strict (in some cases).
  5. You don’t have to hassle with long lines or parking spot frustrations.
  6. You can find quick on the spot coupon codes.
  7. You have cyber Monday specials that are not offered in-stores.
  8. You have a wide variety of products that the stores can’t hold due to lack of space or certain state merchandise regulations.
  9. You can import from any part of the world.

The issue here is not shopping; it is more about how to avoid showing up at the same place wearing the same outfit as 3 other girls. So where can you find really different and neat clothing that nobody else owns?

These are the stores I truly like; they are a little funky and have some crazy designs, but overall, the quality is great and the prices are very attractive. You can check out our PromoPro codes to get additional savings here: Promopro.com

1. JollyChic

2. Windsor

3. Love Culture

4. The Mint Julep Boutique

5. Fashion to Figure And for the sophisticated curvy woman, this store has some really chic apparel.

So what are you waiting for? Check out these super cute stores and remember to shop WISELY and only when you know you can!

Wondering how and where to prepare for back-to-school shopping?

July 30, 2014 – 8:26 pm

For some of us, back-to-school season just means another walk at the park, but to many, it is one of the busiest times of the year after Christmas. Fortunately, sales are usually great during this period, which is why it’s safe to acquire as well as maintain office supplies and seasonal apparel in order get the most out of savings. This means summer clothing will be on clearance and fall styles will be practically pricing perfect before they sky rocket to unaffordable heights. One of the options to save more is of course with promo codes. So here is a list of places and amazing promo codes from PromoPro.

What days and where can you shop to get the best buck for you wallet?

*Mondays and Saturdays: online with promo codes

* Tuesdays and Fridays: in-store and you can use printable coupons

To know about the best shops and where to buy, this neat blog tells you the Five Rules to Get the Best Price Online Every time by Kara Kamenec. Although is a little outdated, it is still very much the case. Here are the tips she talks about in a nutshell.

1. Know WHEN TO BUY. As a golden rule you should buy for others early, and buy at peak times for you.

2. Revise How You View Sales. Most product language is phrased to tempt you into making a purchase that most benefits the retailer. Look beyond the initial tag-line however, and you’ll often see two hidden deals behind common product promotions.

“New Product Available Today” = “Older Model Now Discounted Tomorrow”

“Low Holiday Price” = “Lower Post-Holiday Price”

3.    Search Smarter
Do you search for coupon codes, promo codes or brand name codes? You may think you’ve stumbled upon a steal when you search ‘product + coupon code’ and come across a 10 percent off code, but if you take a few extra steps to also search “product + promo code” and “product + brand name code” you’ll return triple the results.

4.    Connect with brands on a social level

5.    Play the abandoned shopping cart game
Online stores will frequently hone in on shoppers who abandon shopping carts and raise the discounts offered as an incentive to follow through with the purchase.

Here are some stores to consider when finding just about anything for really great and affordable prices with the promo codes.
Apparel:

1. Forever21

2. Wal-Mart

3. Office Depot

4. Best Buy

5. Amazon is an excellent source for used books, and most have FREE shipping. So make sure this is the first thing you look for when purchasing textbooks!

So what are the must haves for back-to-school season?

  • Agendas
  • Staples
  • Paper clips
  • Printer Ink
  • Paper
  • Pens and pencils
  • Binders
  • Smart calculator

Want to shop for backpacks and handbags? You can get Back-to-School Bags and Accessories from Kipling.

How To Make Your Own Detox for 5 Days

July 23, 2014 – 2:00 am

Let’s get our DETOX ON!

So I recently started a detox regimen lasting 5 days. It sounds like forever and almost impossible to accomplish, but ladies and gentlemen, IT’S DOABLE!

So WHAT Detox is this? Well, it all depends on you. I was lucky enough to find this very advanced product called VCleanse. Unfortunately, this product is not yet available in the US; however, that DOES NOT MEAN we can’t replicate it.

What exactly is the point of detoxing? For most of us, it’s more about losing weight than about detoxing, yet the word detoxing has nothing to do with losing weight, not really. Detoxing is about cleansing, or detoxifying, your system from harmful and unwanted impurities that it definitely does not need.

When we start to think about weight loss, we stop the real process of cleansing our bodies from toxins, and in a very effective way.

So the first step to take before detoxing isà STOP THINKING ABOUT LOSING WEIGHT! (Therefore, the placebo effect regarding your expectations highly impacts how your body reacts, believe it or not.)

SECONDLY, mentally prepare yourself for the progression your body will face when you put it under extreme conditions, keep in mind it is necessary to purify your entire bodily composition from the inside out, eliminating yourself from  free radicals. What are these you rightfully wonder? They are deteriorating and extremely harmful substances to which everyone is exposed. To learn more, click the hyperlink from Rice University to garner more information about the regressive impacts of free radicals.

THIRDLY, not all juices taste good, but that doesn’t mean they are not good for you.

FOURTHLY and MOST IMPORTANT: THIS IS COMPLETELY PERSONAL and I do not recommend doing this unless you check with your doctor.  In no way do I promote this as 100% approved by any medical expert. I can only say it works, based on my personal and only experience.

So how can we meet half way to accomplish our dual goals?

  1. Make the effort
  2. Know it will take time to prepare
  3. Stay mentally strong
  4. Surround yourself with a support system
  5. Create a tangible, visible goal that you look at every morning to remind yourself of its worthiness.(E.g. I printed a Victoria Secret model pic. The curvy type; I like my curves! And taped it to my bathroom mirror!)
  6. Empty non-PET plastic bottles of  about 16oz and a Juicer machine.

Whoo! I’m typing all this and I’m already tired, but I know it’s worth the time. It was very hard after the second day; I had a bad headache, dizziness, and even a stomachache, but by the third day, WOW, I felt extremely light and alive!! My energy level was to the max; I was in a great mood and felt more focused, centered.
By the 4th day, it was all downhill from there, I was feeling stronger than ever.

In order to do it properly and do it well, you must drink 6 juices per day (women) 8 Juices per day (men) and at least 7 glasses of water. If you fail to hydrate, your headaches will be strong and you will feel very tired. You are allowed to work out, and if you feel like you need to chew on something, you can refer to the Vcleanse.com website to get some tips on what you can eat.

So when to drink?

I suggest you start on a Saturday. Yes, it will be tough because everyone is out and about, but it is better to hit your hardest day on a Sunday when you can sleep, versus on Monday when you are trying to work.

What time to drink it?

Anytime you feel hungry, just make sure you drink all 6 bottles and drink at least all 7 glasses of water.
TIP: DO NOT chug down the juices, taking medium sips through the hour is better. You body and your brain need the oral fixation to keep you from craving. Chugging the juice will only make you feel full for a VERY short period of time.

According to the VCleanse website, this is what happens to your body when you drink a combination of the juices.

Nutrient Green:
This is one of our most nutrient dense juice blends. Dark leafy greens like spinach and romaine are super rich in chlorophyll, antioxidants, potassium and iron; apples add natural sweetness and powerful liver cleansing properties. The warming properties of ginger aid digestion and metabolism.

Light Green:
This light and sweet juice is packed with the digestion promoting enzyme bromelain, which may also reduce inflammation and alleviate sinusitis. Cucumber is the hero of this bottle, providing hydration as well as high levels of sterols (may be helpful in lowering cholesterol), potassium and magnesium (helpful in regulating blood pressure), silica and sulfur (promoting joint, hair and skin health).

Red Love:
With fruity overtones, Fragrant Red combines the powerful detoxifying properties of beets with the antiviral, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties of pineapple, and the diuretic, hydrating and skin healing properties of cucumber.

Ginger/Pear Tea:
Refreshing and mucus cleansing lemons are high in vitamin C. Ginger supports digestion, lowers inflammation, improves circulation and boosts metabolism. Apples add a dose of polyphenols that can regulate blood sugar levels and may be beneficial for cardiovascular health.

Choco Fun:
Is a smooth and creamy blend of pure energy and protein. Cashews are packed with vitamins like copper, manganese and B vitamin complex essential for body’s metabolic activity and properly functioning nervous system, also can help maintain healthy eyes and can prevent cataracts. Raw cacao is a potent antioxidant.

Chia Green:
The Chia Green combines iron-rich spinach with hydrating cucumber and protein-packed chia seeds. Rich in immune-boosting chlorophyll, flavonoids, lutein and many other antioxidants. Chia seeds are powerful sources of protein and omega-3 fatty acids. The soluble fiber and gel coating of chia seeds hydrate the colon to ensure the easy movement of food.

How to Eat Healthy? Quick Healthy Recipes in Less Than 30 Minutes

July 15, 2014 – 10:51 pm

Burgers and fries are probably the one meal I could live off of the rest of my life.  More than likely, they are also the kinds of foods that would kill me before my 50’s. With that said, I always try to find great recipes that can justify my cravings in a healthy way. I know burgers and fish do not relate in any way, except for a fish sandwich, but who likes those anyway?  After taking into consideration that I want to stop craving fat, unhealthy meals that are not great for my body, I realized it is time to take action in eating conveniently healthy.

When it comes to cooking, I’m not a chef, but I definitely enjoy cooking and I enjoy it even more if it takes me less than 30 minutes to cook. Besides, who has time for preparing cuisines everyday of the week anyways? Certainly not me!

My go-to and reliable place for tasty, healthy meals under 30 minutes to cook, is the amazingly entertaining Food Network Channel.
It’s hard to avoid watching Diners, Drive-in and Dives, but when I’m conscious about my health, I do everything possible to cook  and eat healthy.

Giada De Laurentiis is not typically known for making all-time healthy meals, but in this case, I watched her episode on swordfish with olive oil and lime; I knew it was going to taste amazing, take little time, and be super nutritious.  So what is the recipe? Take a look!

After an amazing meal like this, I can’t deny there is always room for dessert. So I went on Pinterest to find something flavorful, yet healthy at the same time. I ran into this really neat watermelon cake. The icing can be made with low fat cream and covered with toasted almonds. That’s how I did it anyway. And to finish it off, add any fruit that will satisfy your buds.

It is important to note that although I love eating fish, I don’t eat it as much I should. Fortunately, I take OMEGA-3 supplements to help me replace the Omegas I miss when I don’t consume fish.

Omega-3s are a great source for brain development and nutrition.

Here are some coupons and deals that Anycodes offers, helping you save on your supplements with Vitacost.

Why Watch The World Cup Final in The USA

July 8, 2014 – 8:00 am

It seems like the heart-racing hours are over as we leave with our heads held high. But FIFA and countless soccer fans agree that this was more than a battle for the trophy.

I have to admit; I’m not the go-to person when it comes to sports, but come on! How many women are? I know it is not as much as men. The point is, even for a person who has very little interest in soccer, I became a true fan this year. It’s not the skills these players embody or even the popularity each player has due to great looks that makes people engage in this activity passionately. It is because sports bring people together, especially the World Cup. You suddenly start to find something much bigger to look forward to. The unity that one country gains by rooting for one team and representing one’s country is inextricably strong. Only with the Olympics do we get close to feeling this way. Unlike any other sport out there, e.g football, baseball or basketball, we are a country divided by our individual state or college ties. The World Cup, however, allows us to cheer and believe for one NATIONAL team.  Of course this is my perspective and it does put a frown on my face (to say the least) that some disagree #AnnCoulter – US Moral Decay Column ,but I will not get into that.

Now, after we actually feel the excitement of sportsmanship and a sense of pride, we are bummed it’s over. The good news is that it doesn’t have to be over. There are still many strong players in the field. So what should we do with this entire adrenaline rush still coursing through our veins? We can root for another country that hits home. By this, I mean our ancestors or close friends from other countries. It is not only an excuse to share cold beers with friends, it is also an excuse to enjoy great food and build stronger relationships and ties with those who love and are learning to love the sport.

The FIFA recently published an article contrary to that of Ann Coulter’s opinion, the fan base is growing strong.
“There may have been broken hearts and shattered dreams across the United States on Tuesday, but MLS promoters say unprecedented enthusiasm for the national team is evidence that Major League Soccer has come of age – “We proved to the world we are a soccer nation!” MLS Commissioner Don Garber said on Twitter minutes after the USA-Belgium clash.”FIFA

The article also adds that this last game against Belgium shows evidence that the soccer fanatic population is more secured than ever since the collapse of the 1984 soccer US soccer league. I couldn’t agree more, and I feel like I have enough enthusiasm left for more. So, if you are too lazy to go out, you can watch at the comfort of your own home.
